Description:Engineering Programmer

Location: Toronto, ON 
Term: Full time, Permanent
Pay Rate: $70 K range – depending on experience

Scope of Position:
•    The position is accountable for supporting activities relating to Manufacturing Engineering and the subsequent activities that support Production Manufacturing as well as new product launch processes.
•    Must have working knowledge of SolidWorks (CAD software)

JOB DUTIES:
•    Responsible for creating, preparing and modifying Computer Numerical Control Turret Punch Press (known as CNC) programs, flat/Tube Laser programming for both new development programs and standard production components. Responsible for converting brake press tool files to Amada compatible FEL files and Hingeway Roll forming programs
•    Maintenance and control of CNC and forming program database system
•    Assist in training production operators on the operation, set-up, safety and maintenance of the CNC turret Press and Laser cutting equipment
•    Participate in the generation of new and existing component costing models
•    Liaison with all production related disciplines (Manufacturing Engineering, Bill of Materials, Purchasing, Production, Quality & Suppliers) to ensure the production of quality parts
•    Maintain CNC and programming software to the latest revision
•    Assist Manufacturing Engineers/BOM Control in preparation of Product routings by assigning blank sizes, cycle time and creation of special shaped CNC tools
•    Coordination of the prototyping of new products or parts from initial conception to finish product using existing manufacturing process
•    Assist Engineering/ Quality/ Production team in identifying improvement opportunities for cost avoidance/ improvement and implement cost reduction initiatives
•    Support Production personnel on engineering related issues. (eg. Drawing definition, Special orders etc.)
•    Follows the Corporate Health & Safety/Environmental Policy, new equipment pre-start inspection, train and educate production employees accordingly
•    Complete other tasks or duties as assigned by Engineering Manager
•    Prepare blank drawings as required
•    Prepared QA / Welding jigs for Production
•    Provide Production support by resolving drawing issues
•    Work with Designers / Engineers on product design with respect to manufacturing feasibility

QUALIFICATIONS:
•    College Diploma or educated to an Engineering Technologist Level
•    Preferably 4 year hands-on experience in a sheet-metal fabrication environment
•    Working knowledge of CNC turret punch presses and CNC brake presses
•    Working knowledge of Solid Works (CAD software)
•    Hands on experience of programming for Laser cutting equipment (Flat and Tube laser)
•    Knowledge and experience in CNC programming (Pripit and/or Metalsofts, Lantek)
•    Knowledge and use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. (AutoCAD)
•    Knowledge of excellent use of general office computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel)
•    Excellent ability to read engineering technical drawings
•    Good written and verbal communication and organizational skills
•    Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
