Description:Quality Assurance Technician

Location: Concord, ON
Term: Full-time, Permanent
Pay Rate: $55 – $60 K per year 

Job Summary: 
•    As a member of the Quality Assurance department at Quadrant Industries, the Quality Assurance Technician reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and is responsible for inspecting parts, products, and processes to insure conformance with standards, as well as checking for irregularities and defects
•    To achieve this, the Quality Assurance Technician will inspect materials and products using fixed or variable measuring instruments, as well as verify specified dimensions on product or material using inspection equipment
•    The incumbent will work closely with Design, Engineering and Production to ensure product quality while developing new products or making changes to an existing product

Key Responsibilities:
•    Support departmental co-ordination of quality related activities and matters
•    Working with drawings, rough sketches, manuals or prototypes to assure conformance with established quality specifications
•    Working with drawings and prototypes to assure conformance with established quality specifications including performing first-off inspections on newly developed or changed products
•    Responsible for inspecting materials and products using fixed or variable measuring instruments
•    Responsible for comparing products with part lists or sample models to ensure completion of assembly
•    Accountable for resolving quality assurance issues by problem solving with employees as required
•    Conducting research on product defects, as well as investigating processes regarding out-of-specification conditions
•    Responsible for reporting off-specification product
•    Responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Manager in summarizing and preparing reports related to quality assurance (i.e. error, spoilage, and salvage reports)
•    Responsible for performing inspections on a range of work, requiring discretion in the use of appropriate tests. To achieve this, the incumbent tests theories and remedies and trouble-shoots quality problems
•    Monitoring quality management system policies and procedures to ensure conformance throughout plant and office
•    Liaison with external service providers and suppliers of raw material and finished goods
•    Coordinating with Purchasing the supplier approval process
•    Issuance and analysis of corrective action requests internally and to suppliers ensuring root cause analysis and timely completion

Qualifications:
•    A college diploma and/ or equivalent experience
•    3-5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment
•    Experience in a metal manufacturing environment an asset
•    Ability to read and interpret blueprints
•    Strong oral and written communication skills
•    Good problem solving, analytical and decision-making abilities
•    Good planning, time management and organization skills
•    Computer literate
Core Competencies
•    Able to read, understand, and interpret labels, SDS (Safety Data Sheet) for chemicals used in the production process
•    Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job
