Can-Tech Services is currently looking for Candidates for a contract position located in the Concord Area (Keele and Steeles) to work as a Tool & Die Maker / Machinist on Day Shift

Shift Time:  
Day Shift – Monday to Friday 6:30 am to 3:30 pm with potential OT till 6 pm and there is the potential for work on weekends

Duration: 1.5? to 2?month 
Pay Rate: $ 35.75/hr.

Job Summary
This temporary role is to support production for Manufacturing and repairing of sheet metal tools, fixtures, punches, gauges, and dies to support immediate production needs. The candidate develops drawing sketches, prototypes, and models, operating a variety of manual machines to ensure proper operation of all tooling components

Certification:
Must be a Certified Machinist; a Certified Tool & Die Maker is highly ideal.
• Manual Machining: Must demonstrate expert-level setup and operation of the following.

  • Milling Machines.
  • Surface Grinders.
  • Manual Lathes.
  • Band Saws and Radial Drill Machines.

• Brake Press Expertise: Must have hands-on knowledge of basic brake press tools and machine setup.
• Technical Literacy: Must be proficient in reading and drawing technical drawings and specifications.
• Equipment: Must possess and maintain own basic tools and Safety Shoes.
Specific Accountabilities

  1. Safety First: Ensures all manual equipment is in safe and proper working condition prior to use.
  2. Design & Build: Conceptualizes and designs tools, jigs, and fixtures required for prototypes and production assemblies.
  3. Precision Preparation: Computes dimensions and tolerances to set up machine tools for precise layout and machining.
  4. Fabrication: Operates manual machine tools to cut, turn, mill, drill, or grind workpieces to prescribed finishes.
  5. Quality Control: Verifies machined parts for conformance using precision instruments like verniers, calipers, and micrometers.
  6. Ownership & Pride: Takes personal responsibility for the quality of every tool produced aiming for a result that reflects professional mastery.
  7.  Housekeeping: Maintains a clean work area free of hazards as per expectations.

Physical Demands

  • Standing/Walking up to 6 hours at a time.
  • Pushing/Pulling carts and dies up to 200lbs,
  • Most of the time will be spent in a manufacturing environment where exposure to heat, noise, and production equipment may occur.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  1. Apprenticeship: Completion of a recognized Tool and Die making or General Machinist apprenticeship program or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related machining field.
  2. Licensing: Valid Machinist or Tool & Die Maker license (Red Seal preferred).
  3. Manual Expertise: Demonstrated mastery in setting up and operating manual Milling, Lathe,
  4. Surface Grinder, and Radial Drill machines. (A practical test will be part of the interview)
  5. Safety Knowledge: Deep understanding of general health and safety principles and work area hazards.
  6. Communication: Ability to read, write, and communicate in English proactively to coordinate with the team.
  7. Standards: Solid knowledge of quality standards and precision measurement.
  1. Physical: Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to push/pull up to 200 lbs.
