Description:Test and Prototype Technician
Location: Vaughan, ON
Position: Full time permanent
Pay Rate: $32 – $36 per hour, OT eligibility for hours in exceed of 40 hours in a calendar week

Principle Responsibilities:
• Install test unit/system/component and hook up instrumentation as required
• Ensure all the details have been implemented and the test set up complied with the applicable standard and plan
• Operate DAQ (Data Acquisition System) to collect test parameter
• Prepare test reports/Summary
• Execute basic and standardized tests under supervision or guidance of Test Engineer and/or Design Engineer
• Select, source, and collect appropriate test objects, parts, components and supplies required for test facility
• Repair or rework test objects (some components of HVAC systems)
• Operate and maintain test equipment, and support troubleshooting refrigerant, electrical and control systems
• Maintain equipment Preventative Maintenance Programs in Test facility including updating related logs
• Calibrate equipment/sensors and work with outside calibration laboratories to perform necessary calibration
• Practice and train others for safe work practice
Other (departmental) responsibilities:
• Follow established processes (most notably product development process, project management)
• Take part in continuous improvement of existing processes and internal standards
• Set and/or follow 5S rules in Test facility and office
• Follow corporate policies (most notably VBG Keystones and Sustainability policy) and corporate key focus areas (most importantly GI IC and Safety)
Qualifications:
• Associate degree or technical diploma in engineering technology, electronics, or a related field. Engineering degree, preferably in mechanical or HVAC/refrigeration
• An asset: ODP (Ozone Depletion Prevention) Certificate. Certification HVAC and refrigeration
Required:
• 1-2 years of work experience as HVAC/Refrigeration Technician
• An asset: 1-2 years of work experience as Laboratory Technician
• Detail Oriented and accurate.
• Flexible and eagerness to learn new technologies
• Good team player
• Willingness to take over responsibility
• Customer-oriented
• Experience in industry (automotive, manufacturing, product development, etc.) would be an asset
• HVAC&R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration) knowledge both in theory and practice: refrigerant systems, HVAC components
• Ability to install HVAC system and instrumentation (sensors)
• Design test set-ups, selecting and calibrating instrumentation, and establishing test procedures for conducting experiments
• Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical principles and equipment
• Problem-Solving Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using tools and equipment, including power tools
• Blueprint Reading – Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors
• Ability to write test reports and summaries
• MS Office — medium
An asset:
• DAQ (e.g. LabView); Forklift Training
