Location: Ajax, ON    
Term: Contract Assignment – 12 months (extendable) 
Shift: Monday to Friday 
Pay Rate: $46 per hour (based on experience)  

*Must be able to meet Services Canada CGP requirement to a NATO level clearance
* Hybrid work option available

Job Description:
•    This role is a support function to help both internal and external customers resolve material and process issues in a quality, economic and timely manner
•    This includes supporting the following generic activities: new developments, new business, new design activity, manufacturing of designed product and product support
•    The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of metallurgical principles, manufacturing processes, and material properties related to landing gear components
•    This role requires expertise in reviewing engineering drawings, evaluating process techniques, and supporting Material Review Board (MRB) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) activities
•    The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirement

Responsibilities: 
•    Review and interpret engineering drawings to ensure material and process compliance
•    Analyze, review and approve metallurgical process techniques used in landing gear manufacturing, including heat treatment, surface treatments, and forging processes
•    Support MRB activities by assessing material defects, deviations, and recommending corrective actions
•    Investigate and provide metallurgical expertise in root cause analysis and disposition of non-conforming materials
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and quality to address material-related challenges
•    Experience working with aerospace standards such as AMS, ASTM, SAE, NADCAP, and customer-specific requirements
•    Conduct failure analysis of landing gear components and recommend process improvements to mitigate risks
•    Provide metallurgical expertise in project management, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions
•    Be a metallurgical generalist covering all material and processes facets of the landing gear
•    Handle multiple and diverse projects requiring both team and independent work
•    Stay updated on emerging metallurgical technologies and best practices in aerospace manufacturing

Qualifications:

Skills and Requirements:
•    Experience in aerospace metallurgy, specializing in landing gear manufacturing
•    Strong knowledge of high-strength steels, titanium, and aluminum alloys used in aerospace applications
•    Extensive experience with special processing techniques (heat treatment, surface treatments, coatings, etc.)
•    Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
•    Excellent project management skills, including planning, execution, and cross-functional coordination
•    Strong communication, technical writing, analytical and problem-solving skills for documentation and reporting
•    Some experience in MRB, NCR resolution, and root cause analysis methodologies
•    Strong desire to meet defined role objectives in terms of quality, cost and delivery
•    Desire to be a generalist not a specialist
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
•    Self-starter with proven influencing skills required

Education and Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science or a related field
•    P. Eng license or eligible for APEO registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
•    5+ years of experience in aerospace metallurgy, preferably in landing gear or structural components
•    Strong knowledge of metals and alloys used in aerospace applications, such as high-strength steels, titanium, and aluminum alloys
•    Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
•    Hands-on experience with heat treatment, coatings, forging, and machining processes
•    Familiarity with MRB, NCR resolution, and root cause analysis methodologies
•    Experience working with aerospace industry standards (AMS, ASTM, SAE, NADCAP)
•    Will need to be cleared for Controlled Goods compliance
