Fly by Wire Control Law Design Engineer – Engineering Contractor 3 – Savannah, GA

Salary: $60 USD/hr – based on experience
Contract Duration: 1 Year + (up to 4 years)

Unique skills required:
• This position requires a candidate with work experience in augmented air vehicle control system design, simulation and analysis using state of the art techniques in linear and non-linear modeling and analysis
A Control Law Engineer will:
• Establish requirements for control systems functionality, integrity, availability and performance to ensure flight safety and Part 25 certification -Support design and analysis for fly-by-wire primary and automatic flight control laws
• Develop, document, and inspect fly-by-wire control law models for the purposes of flight dynamics analysis
• Conduct, analyze the results and document simulation laboratory tests of the fly-by-wire primary and automatic flight control laws
• Support flight test activities, including validation and verification of control law design troubleshooting/revising control laws as required
• Qualified Candidates will have experience with augmented airplane control law design, modeling, and analysis along with MATLAB & Simulink fluency
The Preferred candidate will have:
• Knowledge of stability and control and application of handling qualities criteria to control system design
• Experience with 14 CFR Part 25 certification
• Use of IBM DOORS
• Experience working with ARP4754A, DO-178B
• Requirements Development Experience
• First Shift

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Five (5) years in specific technical discipline or 10 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees limited to 2 years for Masters, 4 years for PhD in fields applicable to this job

Position Purpose:
Assists with the planning, coordination, performance of design, analysis and liaison engineering supporting the development and production of Gulfstream products and services

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Contributes to planning, developing and coordinating of important engineering projects
2. Provides specialized technical assistance to team members
3. Uses advanced techniques and modified extension of theories to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
4. Determines and develops own approach to solutions within schedule and cost objectives
5. Works under limited supervision; work should only be required to be reviewed for accuracy and consistency with meeting overall objectives
6. Acts as liaison with representatives outside of the assigned group/area
7. Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements
8. Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product

Other Requirements:
1. Advanced degree in engineering related field preferred
2. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline
